Check out the accompanying video for the shot of the tournament so far. It came from Evan Nolte, a 6-7 forward from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia just north of Atlanta. Nolte's team, ranked 17th in the nation by USA Today, beat Christ the King out of Middle Village, New York 66-53 and at the end of the 3rd quarter, Nolte picked off a pass at just beyond the midcourt line and immidiately turned and shot-putted a long bomb at the buzzer that went in.
After upsetting United Faith Academy in the first round, Springfield Kickapoo almost did it again, leading Memphis White Station well into the third quarter before the four time T of C champion took over to win 77-66. Memphis White Station and Milton, Ga. will play for the championship Saturday night at 9:30 p.m.
In other games, Springfield Hillcrest rode the 34 points of Taylor Sade to a 78-67 upset of the defending Class 5 state champions in Missouri, St. Louis Chaminade. And United Faith Christian Academy of Charlotte, North Carolina topped Sagemont High School of Weston, Florida 72-65.
