“We will give Republic our best shot,” said Spooner. “David beat Goliath, so we will do what we can come this Tuesday. I think we are just going to play our game, and that’s what we have been working on all year.”

And that’s exactly what the Lady Wolves of Reeds Spring did Saturday night, knocking off Cassville by a margin of 14 points in Class 4 – District 11 action, 56-42.
“I knew we had more athleticism than Cassville, so we wanted bring a lot of defensive pressure with our full-court press,” said Spooner. “Offensively we focused on running the court as much as we could since Cassville is known for slowing down the ball.”
Reeds Spring utilized a well balanced offensive approach, ending with four players in double-figures. Both Danielle Curnes and Megan Rasmussen tallied up 15 points to lead the Lady Wolves, Autumn Flaugh netted 14, and Joey Ash had 10.
Emily Speakman dropped a game-high 30-point performance despite Cassville’s season ending loss.
“We came out a little flat at first, we haven’t had school the last two days, but once we got into our flow and adjusted to our surroundings, it got us going,” said Spooner.
Reeds Spring sets off to meet No. 3 Republic in the district semifinals Feb. 26 at 6:00 PM.
“As a competitor, you want to play the best, to be the best. I think we are just going to focus on competing with Republic on every play. That gives us the best shot at winning,” said Spooner.

Pivotal fourth quarter advances Rogersville to the district semifinals
The Lady Wildcats prevailed in the last period of play after executing a 21-13 run, advancing themselves onto the Class 4 – District 11 semifinals with a victory over Aurora, 59-52.
Regardless of Rogersville’s home court advantage, Aurora jumped out on top early leading the Lady Wildcats by as much as 10 points in the second quarter. The Lady Hounds then closed out the half, 30-22.

Rogersville’s senior forward, Sam Stiles, left with a possible broken nose in the third quarter. Coach Keith Spaulding explained how the team morale was impacted by her injury.
“The biggest thing that we have on our mind right now as a team is that Sam Stiles got hurt during the game,” said Spaulding. “She is very integral part of what we do as a team, but the kids didn’t let that get them down. They played with a lot of spirit and energy for her.”
Without their starting forward, Rogersville was able to diminish Aurora’s third quarter lead, 39-38. The Lady Wildcats then refocused and found their scoring success in the latter of the second half to take home the district win.
Haley Rust finished 5/5 from the line to lead all scorers with 18 points.
Rogersville is looking for redemption against No. 2 West Plains (24-1), as they previously lost to the Lady Zizzers 62-30 in early January.
“We are going to come out and play together with heart and vitality,” said Spaulding. “This time around, we are going to try and make some shots.”
The Lady Wildcats and West Plains tip-off in the semifinals Feb. 26 at 7:30 PM.
