Ozark AD Mark Caballero resigns to take Jeff City job

Springfield, MO (Ozarks Sports Zone)  -- Ozark Athletic Director Mark Caballero has announced that he will step down to take the same position at Jefferson City High School.

"I am very appreciative and thankful for what Ozark has done for my family and for me. I see Jefferson City as a great opportunity and potentially one of the premier programs in the state," said Caballero.

Caballero has been with the Tigers since 2001, serving as the defensive coordinator and wrestling assistant coach, as well as assistant athletic director, before taking over as the full-time AD in 2007. The chance for Caballero to compete at the highest level (Jefferson City is Missouri's third largest high school with 2,642 students) was a major factor in his decision.

"It is a great opportunity to develop and go to the highest level there is. The fact that they play Class 6 football was also a major attraction. I've always valued the opportunity to complete and be successful at the highest level possible in every aspect of my life," said Caballero.

Caballero received his Masters of Sports Management Degree in 1992 from the United States Sports Academy. Mark and his wife of 27 years Jane have two daughters, Briten (21) and Chelsey (18). Briten is a junior midfielder for the Lady Eagles of AIB College of Business.

Ozark is in the midst of one of its most successful athletic years ever. The Tigers reached the Final Four in football, softball, and volleyball, as well as welcoming home a pair of undefeated state-champion wrestlers in John Oss and Cody Lindsay.
