O-Zone Prep Spotlight: Dana Graves, Weaubleau Basketball

Despite playing in the extremely strong Polk County League the Weaubleau girls are having one of their best seasons ever at 19 and 4.  A big part of that success comes from the senior quartet of Dana Graves, Cherith Roweton, Jalisa Poe and Kelli Koehler.  We caught up with Graves in this week's O-Zone Prep Spotlight.

MORE O-ZONE ARTICLES ABOUT DANA GRAVES

Dana scored her 1,000th career point earlier this season, while earning all-district and all-conference honors.  But her top sport is softball where she was a 4-year all-state player, earning conference MVP her senior year while hitting 26 career home runs with an .891 slugging percentage.

When not on the court or the diamond Dana enjoys hunting, going to the lake, hanging out with her friends and really doing anything competitive.  She's also involved in National Honor Society, Student Council and Future Farmers of America.

Following high school Dana will continue her softball career with a scholarship to Missouri Southern.

"I plan to get my Kinesiology degree," said Graves.  "I chose Kinesiology because my interests lie in an active field and Kinesiology is the base to everything I want to pursue.  I would also like to win state with my team before graduating."

Something people might not know about Dana is that she is scared of the dark.

The Lady Tigers wrap up the regular season next week against Dadeville and Fair Play before opening class 1 district 6 action as the top seed in Bolivar.
