Mizzou's Pressey, Arkansas' Young named to Wooden Award Watch list

Missouri guard Phil Pressey and Arkansas guard BJ Young were named to the Wooden Award Watch list today. The Wooden Award goes to the nations top player and was won last year by Kentucky's Anthony Davis.

Pressey, who averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 assists per game last season as a sophomore, is the lone Missouri representive in the Top 50. The junior guard averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 assists per game as a freshman.

BJ Young scored 15.3 points per game last season as a freshman for the Razorbacks. The St. Louis native also chipped in 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Other SEC players to make the list include Kenny Boynton (Florida), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Georgia), Jarnell Stokes (Tennessee) and Patric Young (Florida). No players from the defending National Champion Kentucky Wildcats were on the list, but this is largely due to freshmen and transfers being ineligible for the initial watch list. A freshman or transfer is eligible to win the award at the end of the year as Davis did last season as a freshman.
