Kendial Lawrence rushed scored two touchdowns and rushed for 108 yards to lead the Missouri Tigers (4-4, 1-4) to a 33-10 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats (1-8, 0-6) Saturday in Columbia. Mizzou scored touchdowns following three Kentucky fumbles.
Missouri's Corbin Berkstresser struggled in his second-straight start of the season. The redshirt-freshman finished 10-of-18 for 71 yards and two interceptions. Injured starting quarterback James Franklin came off the bench, finishing 6-of-9 for 16 yards. Franklin missed the start against Vanderbilt two weeks ago.
Missouri's defense played big throughout the game. The biggest play happened on the first drive of the game. In the red-zone, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson stripped Johathan George, then scooped up the ball. He returned the fumble for 60 yards.
Mizzou added a Lawrence rushing touchdown and a field goal to go up 17-10 at halftime.
Missouri scored twice late to control the game. Marcus Murphy rushed for a nine-yard touchdown. The defense scored the final touchdown when E.J. Gaines recovered a fumble, returning it for 13 yards.
Mizzou will go on the road next Saturday to play the Florida Gators.
