PIERCE CITY, Mo. -- Miller Quarterback Dalton Gulick completed 3 touchdown passes in the 1st half on the way to leading Miller (6-0) to a 47-14 victory over Pierce City (3-3).
"We've got great receivers and great backs, they run good routes and get open," said Gulick. "I'm just fortunate to be able to see them and get the ball to them in time."

On the Cardinals opening drive Gulick connected with Chance Taylor on a 67 yard scoring strike putting Miller up 7-0. Gulick added touchdown passes to Derrick Estell on a 9 yard swing pass. Then just before the end of the 2nd quarter Gulick found a diving Chance Taylor from 14 yards out for his 3rd touchdown. Miller led 33-14 at halftime.
"In the 1st half we were really good, that's as good as we've been," said Miller head coach Dustin Baldwin. "When your able to score on all 5 possessions in the 1st half the scoreboard looks good at the end of the night."
Pierce City had 4 starters unable to play in the game. The Eagles tried to mount a 1st half comeback. Caleb Laswell caught a pass from Kole Kelley, then broke a tackle and scored on a 35 yard passing play cutting the Miller lead to 20-6. The Cardinals answered with a Brenden Richardson 3 yard touchdown run to put Miller up 26-6. Then the Eagles scored another touchdown on a 59 yard run from Cedric O'Hara, but Pierce City wouldn't score again. Derrick Estell added 2 rushing touchdowns for Miller in the 2nd half.
The Cardinals opened the last 3 seasons 5-1, with the win over Pierce City the Cardinals have taken it a step further and are perfect through 6 games.
"We have a good group of seniors and anytime you have 13 senior on a class 1 football team it gives you some good leadership and they've done a good job," said Baldwin.
"I think we can do whatever we set our minds to it's a great feeling and another step towards the #1 seed in districts," said Gulick.
Miller tries to stay undefeated October 5th hosting Joplin in the Cardinals final home game of the season. Pierce City looks to break a 3 game losing streak hosting Eldorado Springs.
