Lebanon's Brackett signs with Evangel football

LEBANON, Mo. - Lebanon senior quarterback Hayden Brackett officially signed to play football at Evangel University next season.  The 6-2, 205 pound signal caller made if official Wednesday night after church at Lebanon Family Church.

"The pastor and his son came up to watch and I signed at the pulpit," said Brackett.  "I'm really excited to go to Evangel.  I've liked them since they started recruiting me this spring.  The coaches are great and I really liked the campus."

Brackett threw for over 1,000 yards as a senior at Lebanon in a primarily rushing attack.  The Yellow Jackets finished 9-2 last season, eventually falling to Camdenton in the district championship.

"Our class was the most winning class in Lebanon history, and I was very proud to bring Lebanon a playoff win.  We took another step toward getting Lebanon to the dome.  Coach (Will) Christian was a great mentor.  I believe I matured a lot over the years at Lebanon."

Brackett was also considering Tulsa, Wheaton College (Chicago), Emporia State, and Westminster.

He plans to major in education with the intent to some day coach.

Evangel finished 7-4 last season under third year head coach Brenton Illum, who tweeted earlier tonight, "another commitment tonight from a great SWMO student-athlete. Exciting times for Football."
