Lady Bison thump Spokane

Spokane, Mo. (For OzarksSportsZone.com)  -- The host Spokane Lady Owls trailed 21-2 after the first quarter and suffered a 36-point home loss to the Buffalo Lady Bison on Thursday night. Spokane had a couple of starters out due to illness in their 60-24 loss to Buffalo.

The Lady Bison began the game applying a full-court press right after their first bucket. Spokane's offense had difficulty dealing with the full court pressure, resulting in several turnovers.

Buffalo Coach Eric DeRossett said his “team is not known for the full-court press". He was pleased with the result.

The Lady Bison continued to keep the Owls at bay, ending with a halftime score of 36-8. Morgan Henderson of Buffalo had the high scores of the first half with 11 and Taylor Murray of Spokane had 4 points.

Buffalo, with a comfortable lead, did not start the third quarter with a full court press. Coach Tom Colvin made some substitutions on his Owls team, resulting in a better flow from each end of the court. The Owls began to sink buckets and cause Buffalo to foul.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Buffalo showed no signs of slowing down. The Lady Bison began with a full court press that once again put the Lady Owls back on their heels. Buffalo's control of the ball was too much for the Lady Owls.

"I was very proud of my team and how they kept fighting in the game," Colvin said. He noted that their “advantage of size did not play a factor in this game”.

“The Lady Bison are a strong COC Team. Buffalo showed us the holes in our game that we have to fix," Colvin said.

Colvin pointed out to his girls “how important it is to keep working everyday on the game.” He wants to show them that they can compete on a bigger stage in districts. “Rebuilding is a slow process".

The Lady Bison’s record is now 3-1. Spokane's Lady Owls are now 2-2.

Buffalo will next play Skyline at home on December 11. Spokane will play Blue Eye in a conference game on December 10 at home.

Buffalo JV won their game over Spokane 53-10.
