Fair Grove is coming off a 16-12 season in which it lost to Catholic in the district finals.
“We have high expectations for our season,” said Fair Grove coach Jenny Talbert. “We would like to win the conference title and district title and continue far into the postseason.”
Fair Grove has a good building block for another district title run with second team all-state center Morgan Kensinger. She averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game in her junior campaign.
Running the Fair Grove offense will be senior point guard DeAmbra Pilkinton, who averaged 13 points per game in earning first team all-district and second team all-conference honors last season.
Fair Grove will have to replace two-year starter Dani Kepler (7 ppg.) The Lady Eagles welcome back multiple letterwinners, including: Katie Wood (5’9”, SR.), Sam Orr (5’4”, SR.), Shelby Morrow (5’9”, JR.), Shania Hawley (5’9”, JR.), and Kinzie Williams (5’7”, JR.).
Freshman Bailey Weaver, a 5’3” guard, is a newcomer who could content for varsity minutes.
Talbert said she wants her team to be known for its “pressure defense.” Helping that defense on the interior should be Kensinger, who according to Talbert has a chance to enter the state record books this season for most blocks in a career. She made the single-season state record list for blocks a season ago.
The Lady Eagles start the season by hosting the Fair Grove Invitational the week of Nov. 26.
