Hillcrest tennis star Breanna Feemster commits to Evangel

The Evangel University women’s tennis team received a commitment from Hillcrest High School product Breanna Feemster to join the Crusaders program for the 2013-14 school year.

The senior from Hillcrest has consistently been of the area’s top women’s tennis players. She was the Hornets top varsity player as a freshman and advanced to the state championship round in each of her last three seasons as a singles player. Last month, Feemster advanced to the state semifinals in Class 2. She was a state quarterfinalist in Class 1 as a junior and made it to the Class 1 semifinals as a sophomore.

“The EU tennis players and I are very excited to bring Breanna on board next school year,” said Evangel head coach Debbie De Almeida.  “Breanna exemplifies what we are looking for in a player and student at Evangel.  She has a heart for God, is one of the top graduating seniors in her class at Hillcrest High School and has outstanding tennis ability.  She will be a very good addition and will help us to continue to build depth across the board on our roster.”

Feemster will formally sign with Evangel in a ceremony at Hillcrest High School in the next several weeks on a date to be determined later.

Last year, Evangel’s tennis team finished 13-4 and was edged in the regional finals. This Fall, sophomore Amy Grossklag finished fourth nationally at the ITA-NAIA national championship tournament and the doubles team of Grossklag and Jenna Elliott won the consolation bracket at the national tournament. Their team schedule starts next semester.
