Falcons Soar High at SWMO Swim and Dive Championships

Springfield, Mo. (For  -- Powerhouse lady’s swim team Glendale continued their winning ways at the Southwest Missouri Swim and Dive Championships at the Foster Natatorium on Saturday. Glendale won the meet with 332 points, 59 points higher than cross town rival, Kickapoo.

Glendale’s Coach Steve Boyce was pleased with performance of his girls.

“This is a good looking group of girls. We battled hard today. Glendale has over eight girls going to state with individual cuts. Nikki Sisson improved her seed for state today. She broke her own meet record of 24.46 set in 2012 for the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.42. Macie Beairsto took it easy today due to her turf toe injury. She worked hard to win her meets and is looking forward to state.”

Coach Boyce said “We have one girl going to state for Ozark. We were looking for more today in our little COC battle with Carthage, but it just didn’t get there.”

Kickapoo Coach Pete Hill couldn’t remove his ear to ear smile.

“Everything came together today. I couldn’t be prouder of these girls. Rachel Scott, her breast stroke just came together on Thursday night. She flew through the water. Kelsey Messner was fantastic in the 100 Yard Backstroke,” said Hill. “We have 13 girls going to state, two of them are divers. I think all the Southwest Missouri teams showed tonight what strong swimmers we have. Glendale is a powerful team, but we kept up and had over 85% of the girls get their best times today. We are really excited for state.”

Seniors were honored at the swim meet along with their parents.

The Last Chance meet was held after the SWMO Championships. Only a handful of girls stayed for the time trials, to get one last chance to make it to state. Events at the Last Chance meet were the 100 Breast, 50 Freestyle, 200 Free, and the 100 Butterfly.

Swimming and Diving State Championships will be held in St. Peters Mo on February 15th and 16th.
