Evangel wins in OT vs. Benedictine 73-69



Springfield, MO (Evangel Sports Information)  -- Evangel won for the eighth time in nine games with a 73-69 win in overtime over Benedictine Saturday at the Ashcroft Center.

Ravens guard John Harris, Jr. banked in a three-pointer with 14.8 seconds left in regulation tying the game at 59 and forced overtime when a three-point attempt by Victor Agbasi was missed with three seconds left.

The missed shot by Agbasi was only one of his three misses in the game as the senior from Tulsa scored a career high 23 points on 8 of 11 shooting and 4 of 6 on three-point attempts. He hit a three-pointer in overtime and made two free throws late the extra period that helped keep the lead out of reach for the Ravens.

J.J. Williams added 13 points for Evangel and hit six free throws in the overtime. Stephen Cotten added 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Benedictine was led by Charlie Wallrapp’s 16 points.

Evangel improved to 16-5 and 9-2 in the Heart of America conference. Benedictine drops to 15-7 and 7-4. The Crusaders are at Baker for their next game. Evangel takes on the Wildcats on Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
