Fayette, Mo. -- Evangel continued their win streak and extended it to five games with a 49-16 win at Central Methodist Saturday.
 
The 15^th ranked Crusaders trailed 3-0 early but reeled off 28 unanswered points to lead 28-3 at halftime.
 
QB Andrew Brimhall was 25 for 36 passing with no interceptions and 4 touchdowns for 337 yards. The junior from Cordova, Tenn. also ran for two touchdowns in the win. WR Mitch McHenry tied an Evangel record with 4 touchdown receptions in the game and had a total of 11 catches for 141 yards. WR Shawn Herbert added 9 receptions for 112 yards.
 
WR Jesse Vaughn set Evangel’s single season record for receiving yards as he made three catches for 51 yards raising his season total to 1,137 yards. The junior from Houston, Texas passed Dimitrius Breedlove’s total of 1,119 yards in 2001.
 
Evangel’s five-game winning streak is their longest since 2001 when the Crusaders won their first 11 games and ended the year 11-1. 
 
The Crusaders improved to 7-2 and 6-1 in the Heart of America conference. Central Methodist fell to 2-7 and 2-6 in the HAAC.
 
The Crusaders play their final regular season game in Springfield next Saturday as they host #3 Missouri Valley. The Vikings beat Peru State 67-13 Saturday to maintain their unbeaten record. Missouri Valley is 8-0 and 7-0 in the conference. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at JFK Stadium.
