Drury's Alex Hall named 3rd team All-American

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Drury senior standout Alex Hall has been named a Third Team All-America selection by Daktronics, the organization announced on Thursday by the D2SIDA organization of college sports information directors.

Hall, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard, has guided the Panthers into the NCAA-II Elite Eight for the first time in the program's history. Drury (28-4) will play South Carolina-Aiken (25-7) at 8:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 28 in Louisville, Ky. in the national quarterfinals.

Hall, the Daktronics Midwest Region Player of the Year, was one of 15 honored with All-America status. Alex Falk, a 6-4 senior guard for nationally top-ranked West Liberty was named the national Player of the Year.

A pair of Drury opponents this season - senior centers Ali Haidar of Michigan Tech and Kevin Kotzur of St. Mary's, were selected to the First Team, while John Allen, a senior guard from Western Washington who played against the Panthers in Las Vegas in December, joined Hall on the Third Team.

Hall has been a four-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection as a Panther, including First Team honors each of the past two seasons. He's averaging 19.4 points this season and with 109 made 3-pointers, needs just four more to set a new DU single-season record. He already has established new school marks for 3-pointers in a game (9 vs. Missouri Science and Technology on Dec. 6) and career (370 and counting) as a Panther.

Hall is No. 3 all-time on the Drury scoring charts with 2,111 points, and his 622 points this season are the seventh most in DU history.

The former Springfield Kickapoo prep standout becomes the ninth Drury basketball player since 1950 to make either a First, Second or Third Team All-America squad, and the program's first since Chris Mortellaro in 2004.
