The 2013 MSHSAA golf championships are under way. Here’s a recap of the action in all four classes.
It’s a balanced, and competitive, team field in the Class 4 state championships at Rivercut.
CLASS 4 RESULTS
Only 21 strokes separate first-place Marquette from eighth-place Poplar Bluff. Kickapoo shot 323 and sits in seventh place.
John Fuchs shot a 76 for the Chiefs. Ozark’s Miles Aduddell, the Republic duo of Beau Allen and Dylan Bekemeier, and Rolla’s Michael Steelman (77) are all in a massive tie for 18th.
The West Plains Zizzers sit behind St. Charles West in seventh place by only six strokes with a total score of 326.CLASS 3 RESULTS
Through the first round of play, Rogersville's Alec Palen is in a 3-way tie for fifth place after shooting a 74, while his teammate Robert Mahaffey (76) holds down 13th alongside Bolivar's Haden Stevens.
Clayton Moles of Marshfield shares a total of 75 with four others, finishing round one in eighth place.
The Lamar Tigers are five strokes off the team in the Class 2 state championships, taking place at Nixa’s Fremont Hills.
Two local golfers are also in contention for the individual title. Licking’s Ian Barnes and Mt. Vernon’s Tripper Jensen are one stroke off the lead, after each shot a 75.
CLASS 2 FULL RESULTS
Blair Oaks’ Tanner Elder and Lutheran’s (St. Peters) Justin Wrozier finished with a 74.
Lamar had two golfers (Caleb Fischer, Landon Maberry) shoot 78, and another (Logan McArthur) put up a 79. Ash Grove’s Sean Mulkey also shot 79.

Thayer’s Zach Steed leads the way locally at Bolivar’s Silo Ridge, tied with three others in sixth place. He’s four strokes behind overall leader Trevor Cronin of Barat Academy.

Purdy’s Phil Roller is one stroke behind Steed, carding a score of 81 in a three-way tie for ninth.
Thayer is in seventh place in the team standings.
Dora’s Marcus Hoover, also a member of the school’s baseball team that begins district play Tuesday, is tied for 31st after shooting 87. Gainesville’s Thomas Ritter shot a 94.
