"My oldest daughter plays softball and will be a freshman next year," said Large. "Football practice interfers with her games, so this allows me to be there."
Large completed his administration degree last summer. He will teach two classes next school year while serving as AD.
"I knew I'd get into this because of my family. Being an AD is more appealing down the line. It's a perfect fit without becoming a full blown administrator position, and it still allows me to be around sports."
The Fort Scott, Kansas native was 132-42 in 17 overall seasons as a head coach, including a previous stint at El Dorado Springs. He won six Big 8 Conference titles during his tenure at Cassville along with the 2008 and 2009 class 3 state championships.
"The decision was probably harder on my wife and girls than me. They got used to the idea of daddy being the football coach."
Long time assistant Lance Parnell was named as Large's successor as head football coach in early December.
