Skyline volleyball had a breakout season last year winning 22 matches and finishing as the conference runner-up in the Mid-Lakes.

Discipline was at the center of last season’s success according to head coach Shawna Bybee.

“I would say discipline would be our key to our success. Discipline at practice, not being okay with missing serves at practice. Not being okay with just getting it over the net, getting points off serves. We are not settling, trying to make a name for ourselves. Hope the girls show that again this year to their fans,” Bybee said.

Ella Dougherty (senior middle hitter), Angelina Curtis (senior outside hitter) and Alyee Gunter (junior outside hitter) all return after earning all-conference honors last season. Jadyn Foster (middle hitter) and Leah King (senior setter) also return to give Skyline a talented group to lean on.

“Having all four of them back with their swings and confidence will be key for our success with our setter Leah King who has been their setter for three years now,” Bybee said. “Ella and Angelina have been four-year starters for me so their leadership and guidance role on the court with be huge. Alyee has started since she was a freshman and having a full year playing all the way around is only gain confidence.”

Destiny Holt (senior outside hitter), Abby Nothnagel (senior setter/back row), Jorden Hodges (junior hitter/back row), Ashlyn Eidson (junior outside hitter), Kaitlyn Glor (junior middle hitter), Shayla Lynn (sophomore back row), Kalli Eidson (sophomore back row), Lexie Curtis (sophomore), Olivia Harrison (sophomore), Grace Edge (sophomore) and Chayla Tuning (freshman) will be other players to watch on the varsity level.

“We had a great regular season last year but I think our primary goal is post-season,” Bybee said. “Every set, every game, every practice needs to get us ready for post-season. Mentally and physically we need to have post season in our head. So my overall expectations would be districts.”

Skyline opens the season on Aug. 31 at home against Windsor.
