SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men’s basketball coach Dana Ford announced Thursday (Jan. 30) that junior guard Tyrik Dixon will have season-ending surgery in the coming days to repair a torn labrum.

Dixon, who has missed the last five games as a result of the shoulder complications, started the Bears’ first 17 games and was averaging 7.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists.  The native of Bentonville, Ark., sat out the 2018-19 season at Missouri State to satisfy NCAA transfer rules after spending his first two collegiate seasons at Middle Tennessee State.

“It’s certainly unfortunate for Tyrik, but we wish him all the best for a quick and complete recovery,” Ford said.

The Bears return to JQH Arena on Saturday afternoon to take on Indiana State at 3 p.m.
