School of the Ozarks girls basketball will have co-head coaches this year with Andrea Martin and Jerry Martin leading the way. Jerry is also the head coach of the boys program.

Two starters return for the Lady Patriots in senior Molly Sparks and junior Macy Martin.

“Each will be expected to step up in leadership and show calm and resolve for the younger players that will be filling holes left by graduation,” Martin said.

Newcomers to the varsity level include: Emma Breeden (senior), Kami Bradshaw (sophomore), Maisie Goodwin (sophomore), Jaylyn Presson (sophomore), Hadley Houston (freshman) and Macy Sanders (freshman).

“Our biggest strength will have to be resolve,” Martin said. “We will see how gritty we can be. Resolve to work harder than we ever have and not worry about outcome near as much as improvement. Resolve to focus on the process especially on defense to keep us in games until we can settle out our offensive options.”

The Lady Patriots will have to do better protecting to ball to be successful.

“Our number one focus has to be ball security. We gave our opponents way too many opportunities for extra offense that should have been ours,” Martin said.

School of the Ozarks opens the season Dec. 2-7 at the Fordland Invitational.
