There are many talented girls golfers across our coverage area. Below are some of the top girls golfers to watch this season

This watchlist can be found in print in the Fall O-Zone Preview Magazine available this week at all southwest Missouri Casey’s general stores.

Susannah Blackwell, Glendale, Junior
Blackwell was the No. 2 golfer for a Glendale squad that finished fourth overall at the Class 2 State tournament as a team. She shot a 95 on the first day at state but bounced back to shoot an 87 on Day 2 and finish 49th overall. Blackwell’s best postseason finish came at the Class 2 Sectional 3 tournament where she tied for first with a 78. The junior finished third at the Class 2 District 5 tournament.

Elizabeth Freeman, Ozark, Junior
Freeman was the No. 1 golfer on Ozark’s state-qualifying team in her sophomore year. She finished 63rd overall to lead the Lady Tigers. Her best postseason finish came at the Class 2 District 5 tournament, where she shot an 81 to finish third overall. Freeman took eighth place the following week to help buoy Ozark to a second-place finish as a team and a state berth.

Wriley Hiebert, Glendale, Senior
Hiebert was the No. 1 golfer for the state-qualifying Lady Falcons. She shot matching 84s at the Class 2 State tournament to earn a 21st-place finish. She was the Class 2 District 5 individual champion thanks to shooting a 78. The senior posted another 78 at the Class 2 Sectional 3 meet to finish in a three-way tie for first place.

Kayla Pfitzner, Catholic, Senior
Pfitzner won the Class 1 individual state title last season by shooting an 80 on Day 1 of the state tournament followed by a tournament-low 74 on Day 2 to beat her teammate Regan Zibilski by two strokes. She also was the Class 1 District 4 champion and third-place finisher in the Class 1 Sectional 2 tournament.

Kyleigh Pfitzner, Catholic, Sophomore
Pfitzner would be the No. 1 golfer for many teams in the state, but she is a part of a deep Catholic squad where she was the No. 3 golfer for the state runner-up Irish. She finished 16th overall at the Class 1 state tournament. Prior to that, she had matching third-place finishes at both the district and sectional tournaments.

Ashtynn Russell, Bolivar, Senior
Russell had a strong run through the postseason that started with a runner-up finish at the Class 1 District 3 tournament where she shot an 86. The Bolivar senior finished sixth at the Class 1 Sectional 2 tournament with an 87. She capped off her postseason run with a 30th-place finish at the Class 1 state tournament.

Jenna Teeter, Carl Junction, Senior
Teeter was the area’s top finisher at the Class 2 state tournament with a 12th-place finish. She shot an 82 on Day 1 and an 80 on Day 2. The senior started out her postseason run with an individual championship at the Class 2 District 6 tournament where she shot a one-over 72. The following week she tied for first at the Class 2 Sectional 3 tournament by shooting a 78.

Kourtney Tucker, Central, Senior
Tucker was consistent throughout the postseason shooting between 85 and 89 for her four postseason rounds. She had matching fourth-place finishes at the Class 2 District 6 and Sectional 3 tournaments where she posted scores of 85 and 86, respectively. At the Class 2 state tournament, Tucker shot 87 and 89 to finish 34th overall.

Brooke Wagner, Rogersville, Junior
Wagner came in as the solo No. 1 golfer or tied for No. 1 for the Rogersville Lady Wildcats through the postseason last year. She led her team to a fourth-place finish at the Class 1 State tournament by finishing 18th overall. The junior brought home a fifth-place finish at both the Class 1 Sectional 2 and Class 1 District 4 tournaments.

Reagan Zibilski, Catholic, Sophomore
Zibilski was the Class 1 State runner-up to her teammate Kayla Pfitzner last year, but her biggest accomplishment came in the offseason. Zibilski was able to qualify and play in the Women’s US Open as an amateur. She returns to a strong Lady Irish golf squad that will be the odds-on favorite to win a state championship.
