Harrison’s star running back is ready for another standout season

Harrison is coming off a 13-win season, with the team’s only loss coming in the State Semifinals, and the Goblins return a big weapon for the 2019 season in running back Gabe Huskey.

“I expect him to have a huge year and be one of the best players in the state of Arkansas,” said head coach Joel Wells.

Huskey averaged nearly 20 points per game last season for the Goblins making him the guy that schools prepared for week after week.

“I love it, honestly, it what drives me to play better,” Huskey said.
“I mean Gabe scored 71 touchdowns in two years, and catches the ball well, runs the ball well, just an outstanding football player,” said Wells.

Gabe was moved to wide receiver early in high school, now his main job is to carry the ball. But really, he can do whatever coach needs.

“He catches the ball so well that to get other guys in at running back, we moved him out to receiver,” said Wells. “He’s just good when the ball is in his hand.”

But Gabe knows his success comes from more than just himself.

“Teamwork is a big one. I’m nothing without the offensive line,” said Huskey. “Without them, I don’t have 2,000 rushing yards, or 700 receiving yards. Everybody’s got to work together.”

After his senior year, Gabe hopes to play at the next level.

“He’s got a lot of people looking at him, he’s got a couple D-II offers, and we’ll see where that goes, but he’s definitely a college football player,” Wells said.
