SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Lady Panthers are ranked number one in the nation for the second straight week in the WBCA/NCAA-II coaches’ poll. Drury received all 24 first-place votes after winning two games last week to bring their record to 21-0 and 11-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Lady Panthers are one of three teams in Division II women’s basketball with an unbeaten record as second-ranked UC San Diego (18-0) and third-ranked Thomas Jefferson (20-0) have yet to lose this season.

One other team from the GLVC is in the top 25 as Lewis (18-2) is ranked 18th.

Drury is nationally ranked for the 89th consecutive week, the longest such streak in the nation. The Lady Panthers are also in the top 10 for the 27th week in a row, and last week moved into the top position in the national poll for the first time in 14 years.

The Lady Panthers are home twice this week including their annual Overflow the O’ game on Saturday. Thursday, Drury hosts Maryville at 5:45 p.m., and on Saturday, the Lady Panthers take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. with thousands of dollars in door prizes to be given away including a 50-inch TV as part of Overflow the O’ presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. For tickets, call 417-873-6389.
