Over the years, some fans of high school teams come and go as their kids become freshmen, and then graduate.

But there’s a lot of fans who grow up in the community and support their team no-matter when.

Cabool has their own super fan who has been with the team through thick and thin, even while dealing with a disability.

His name is Steve Forsythe, and even though he has Cerebral Palsy, that hasn’t kept him from staying active in the community.

Steve grew up in town and went to Cabool high school in the late 1960’s and was a junior during the football team’s 1968 State Championship.

He couldn’t play due to his cerebral palsy. But that never crushed his spirits.

“My mom and dad, they never gave up on me. And never gave up on me and told me if I wanted to do something, go try to do it.” said Forsythe.

With some encouragement from his parents and coaches Steve went on to be bat boy for the baseball team and he even helped coach little league baseball.

“I care for all of the kids in Cabool.” said Forsythe.

Later in life Steve found his calling on radio and hosts a talk show on KZ88.1 FM.

“I began a sports talk program and we talk about all kinds of ball games. Cabool Bulldogs football, basketball, and baseball.” said Forsythe.

“You hear him on the radio and the first thing you do is smile.” said Cabool football coach Vince McCrosky.

McCrosky says he tries to have Steve come talk to his team every year.

“He reminds you of why you play the game, because you just absolutely love it.” said McCrosky.

McCrosky says anyone who meets Steve will learn to love life even more.

“He reminds you that there are no such things as bad days. I just love the guy.” said McCrosky. “He makes you want to work harder, he makes you love Cabool more. Every town has it’s own flavor and he is the flavor of Cabool sports.”

“(Have you ever missed a home game?) Not in a long time, and you know what? I don’t intend to.” said Forsythe. “I love my Cabool Bulldogs.”

Forsythe says KZ88.1 FM is looking for volunteers if you are interested in helping out.
