Girls golf tees off at Cassville for its inaugural season this fall. The Lady Wildcats are coached by a former Cassville football coach, Jay Rogers, and he’s ready to tackle this new opportunity.

“The biggest change for me, because I was kind of used to golf with the guys, but I’ve never coached girls teams before, but it’s been a lot of fun. They’re a great team to work with,” said Rogers.

Alexis Mann and Chantly Yarnall played on the boy’s team last season, which showed the school board there was an interest in the sport.

“We’ve all gotten a lot of support. I’ve heard a lot of good things, and a lot of people are excited for what we’re doing,” Mann said.

The Lady Wildcats are starting with a junior varsity team in this first year trial period, and hope to keep growing.

“I’m just hoping we’re going to be able to continue our golf program and make it grow more and have a lot of interest,” said Mann.
