It didn’t take Alize Johnson long to return to his roots.

This summer, Alize Johnson became the first MSU Bear drafted in the NBA since Winston Garland in 1987.  As August starts, Johnson finds himself back on the MSU campus, working out with his former teammates at the familiar JQH Arena.

Johnson was drafted in the second round by the Indiana Pacers in June.  Thanks to a successful NBA Summer League showing, using his frame to pull down rebounds and ability to run the floor, the Pacers signed Alize.

On Friday, Alize will join other Bear greats at the inaugural Sneaker Soiree.  The new name for the annual Missouri State fundraiser which brings in donations for all sports on campus.

The main draw leading up to the Sneaker Soiree has been the 1998-99 Bears team.  Ten players and former head coach, Steve Alford, will be at Hammons Student Center holding a meet and greet, and helping their former University.

The event starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 3.  Tickets can be purchased at MissouriStateBears.com.
