Missouri State senior Audrey Holt‘s career will end prematurely as a result of multiple concussions, sustained both prior to and during her time as a Lady Bear.

Holt played in 95 career games with 43 starts as a Lady Bear, tallying 365 points, 374 rebounds, 73 assists, 79 steals and 53 blocks, which ranks 15th in school history. The Columbia, Mo., native started the first six games of her senior season before being sidelined by her most recent concussion.

Statement from Holt:
“Since my last concussion, at the end of November, I’ve had a number of meetings with our doctors, trainers, Coach Kellie, and my parents. Ultimately, the decision was mine to make. Although this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, I know it is for the best. There is a lot of life after basketball, and I plan to be healthy and present for all of it.”

Statement from MSU Head Coach Kellie Harper:
“This is an emotional time for Audrey, her family, and our team. We love and support Audrey and the tough decision that she made. We will miss having her competitive high motor on the court. Fortunately, she can still contribute from the sidelines by sharing her experiences and adding her positive encouragement for our players.”
