Kelie Henderson, Bolivar

Henderson ran a tactically perfect race at the Class 3 state championship meet. She crossed the mile in ninth place and moved up to fourth by the two-mile mark before ultimately finishing as the state runner-up in a time of 19:05.25. Her efforts helped the Lady Liberators to the Class 3 title with 80 points. The championship was Southwest Missouri’s first in Class 3 since 2008.

Katie McCune, Summit Prep/New Covenant

McCune finished third at the Class 1 state meet to cap a 1-2-3 finish for her team that also won the Class 1 championship for the first time in school history. She finished with a time of 19:48.48, just behind her twin sister, Claire. The Drury-bound runner was district runner-up to teammate Claire Workman. She also impressed by finishing fifth out of 315 runners at the Missouri Southern Stampede in a time of 18:44.85.

Tabitha Weber, Marshfield

Weber’s hard work over the last four years paid off when she became the first southwest Missouri runner to win a Class 3 individual state title since 2006. She crossed the finish line with a time of 18:59.92 in a race she led from the mile mark to the finish. The Southwest Baptist University-bound runner finished 12th out of 562 runners at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville with a time of 18:25.75.

Claire Workman, Summit Prep/New Covenant

Workman capped off her cross country career with a third consecutive Class 1 individual title. She posted a time of 19:00.60 to win the race by 47 seconds over her teammate Claire McCune. Her first-place finish helped buoy NCA/Summit Prep to the team championship with 66 points, 14 better than second place. Workman, an Oklahoma State commit, finished second out of 315 runners at the Missouri Southern Stampede with a time of 17:54.91.
