Michael Branch, Monett

Monett was loaded with players, but Branch made the Class 3 State Champion Cubs go. He carried the ball 290 times for 2,123 yards and 20 touchdowns. He added another 382 yards and five touchdowns on 21 receptions through the air. Defensively he was a force with 63 total tackles and 9.5 sacks. He was named the All O-Zone Football Most Valuable Player. Branch will continue his football career at Southwest Baptist in the fall.

Keegan Hoopes, West Plains

Hoopes was the area’s most relied on non-quarterback in the area in 2016. He carried the ball 309 times in just 11 games for an average of 28 carries per game. Those carries totaled up to 2,202 yards rushing for 35 touchdowns to lead West Plains. His efforts earned him Class 4 Offensive Player of the Year for the Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association. Hoopes will continue his football career at Benedictine in the fall.

Alex Huston, Glendale

Huston triggered Glendale’s turnaround from a four-win team in 2015 to an 11-win, undefeated Ozark Conference Champion in 2016. The quarterback’s numbers were record-setting with 395 completions for 6,131 yards and 76 touchdowns. He completed 70-percent of his passes as a junior. Huston was named the All O-Zone Football Offensive Player of the Year. He also garnered Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors for the Ozark Conference and Class 5-6 Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association All-Region team.

Josh Pruett, MV-BT/Liberty

Pruett was a two-way star for MV-BT/Liberty. He was most known for what he did for the offense. He threw for 2,761 yards and 31 touchdowns against just three interceptions through the air. He added another 926 yards and 19 touchdowns on 139 carries on the ground. His efforts earned him First Team All-State, All-Region and All-South Central Association quarterback honors. On defense, Pruett racked up 118 total tackles and two sacks.
