Pair of Stockton products to join Evangel women’s basketball

The Evangel women’s basketball team and head coach Leon Neal announced the addition of six new players for the 2017-18 season.

Among the group includes incoming freshmen, Devon Fleming and Kali Myers from Pacific High School in Pacific, Mo. Kristin Annie Besch from Stockton High School and Kiera Muckey from Nixa High School also join the group following outstanding prep careers.

A pair of transfers will also join the Crusaders with Sauna Rinehart from Moberly Community College and Sydnee Garrett from North Arkansas Community College. Rinehart played her high school hoops at St. James, Missouri, while Garrett is from Stockton, Missouri.

Below is a list of the players and their honors:

 

Devon Fleming – Pacific HS – Pacific, Mo.

Averaged 15.5 points per game and shot 49 percent from the field … Averaged 4.6 assists per game and 6.8 boards per game as a senior … Named First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference … Also earned all-district honors and was named all-tournament team at the Marquette and Visitation Tournaments … Scored over 1,000 points in her career becoming the third player at Pacific to cross the mark … Set the Pacific single-season assist record as a senior.

Kali Myers – Pacific HS – Pacific, Mo.

Myers finished her career as the all-time blocked shot leader at Pacific … Also, set the single-season blocks record and averaged 4.2 blocks per game as a senior … Averaged 5.0 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Kristin Annie Besch – Stockton HS – Stockton, Mo.

Was named all-district and Second Team All-Conference at Stockton High … Averaged a double-double with 12.5 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game as a senior … Shot 45 percent from the field and 30 percent from the three-point line … Was named to the Springfield News Leader All USA Ozark Performer of the Week.

Kiera Muckey – Nixa HS – Nixa, Mo.

Muckey finished her senior season averaging 4.4 points per game at Nixa High … She also averaged 1.8 boards per game.

Sydnee Garrett – North Arkansas CC – Stockton, Mo.

Garrett earned all-region honors and was a Third Team All-American for the Pioneers as a sophomore … Averaged a double-double with 16.3 points per game and 10 rebounds per game … Shot 55 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line … Was the third-leading scorer as a freshman averaging 11 points per game and 9.0 boards per game … Helped team finished 22-4 as a sophomore and 25-7 during her freshman season … Prepped at Stockton High School in Stockton, Missouri … During her time at Stockton, Garrett helped the Tigers to a district championship and was named all-district, all-conference, and all-state.

Shauna Rinehart – Moberly Community College – St. James, Mo.

Rinehart averaged 1.9 points per game in her one season at Moberly Community College … She prepped at St. James High where she scored more than 1,000 points during her career averaging 9.4 points per game as a senior … She was a three-time all-district selection and three-time all-conference pick … Sharp-shooter shot 36 percent from behind the three-point line while finishing second in St. James girls basketball history with 227 three-pointers made … Also earned academic all-conference accolades and was named the President’s Honor Roll.
