2017 Uniform Of The Year Bracket: Sweet 16 Preview

2017-uni-bracket16

Two rounds and 15,012 (nice!) votes later and we’ve got a Sweet 16 field in our Uniform of the Year bracket. There were eight more upsets out of the 16 Round of 32 matchups and six double-digit seeds still remaining in the field. Also, there are ZERO basketball uniforms left in the field. We started this with 15! Take from that what you will.

Later Thursday evening, voting for the Sweet 16 will open and, like the last two rounds, voting will remain open for a little over 48 hours, also known as Saturday at midnight.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the Round of 32 results:

Largest blowout? (2) Monett Softball over (10) Camdenton Boys Basketball

Alright, so Monett is having a good run so far in this tournament with ALL FOUR of its uniforms still in play. But my personal favorite of those four and, apparently yours, continued to dominate over these past couple days, taking out Camdenton Boys Basketball and those L.A. Laker-style unis 289-47. That’s 86 percent of the vote, higher than Norwood’s 85.3 percent in Round 1.

Closest matchup? (9) West Plains Softball over (1) Liberty Football

We lost two 1-seeds this week in Liberty Football and Glendale Baseball (which lost 191-152 to West Plains Track and Field). I think I’m more surprised by Glendale Baseball’s exit since I’m a huge fan of those West Plains Softball unis, and you were too. The Zizzers took this matchup 222-208. Nearly as close was (13) Mountain Grove Baseball taking out (12) Republic Softball, 206-191.

Biggest Upset? (9) West Plains Track and Field over (1) Glendale Baseball

Pretty cool to get a track representative in the Sweet 16! Must be those candy-cane shorts. West Plains track took out those excellent Glendale white unis 191-152 to secure a 9- vs. 13-seed matchup with Mountain Grove Baseball in the Sweet 16. We also need to throw (10) Waynesville Softball over (2) Strafford Football in here, with those Lady Tigers winning 175-130.

Matchup to Watch? (11) Monett Boys Soccer vs. (2) Monett Softball

At least one of the four remaining Monett unis are guaranteed to go home this round thanks to this Short Shorts Regional Sweet 16 matchup. Monett Softball is the favorite here having not been challenged in the first two rounds. Monett Boys Soccer was tied after Day 1 of Round 2 with Salem Softball but ended up pulling away for a 205-161 win.
