EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Drury Lady Panthers advanced to the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament with a 71-43 win over Maryville in the quarterfinal round on Friday at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The Lady Panthers, the top-seed in the tournament, improved to 26-3. Maryville ended their season with a 13-14 record.

Drury’s defense produced 21 steals and scored 32 points off of Maryville turnovers. The Lady Panthers also grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and outscored the Saints 19-1 in second chance baskets.

“When you’re not hitting shots, you have to rely on team defense and rebounding and I thought we did that well today,” said Drury head coach Molly Miller. “We told them at halftime, if we keep pressuring them defensively and keep working, then the shots would fall.”

Hannah Dressler and Daejah Bernard both led Drury with 13 points. Heather Harman had 10 points and a season high eight rebounds. Drury shot 44 percent from the floor going 28 for 63 and were 6 for 23 from three-point range.

Drury used a 10-0 run in the first quarter to build a 25-11 lead. The Saints chipped away and pulled within eight of the lead at halftime, 32-24. Maryville got as close as six in the third quarter but the Lady Panthers outscored the Saints 18-8 in the last seven minutes of the period to put the game out of reach.

Ali Ringering and Carly Frala both had 12 points to lead Maryville.

Drury plays in the GLVC semifinals and will play the winner of fourth-seeded Bellarmine and fifth-seeded Rockhurst on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Ford Center in Evansville.
