Evangel University men’s basketball senior Nick Yocum and junior Cody Geiger were named to the All-Heart Men’s Basketball Team as released by the conference office Monday.
The honor is the second time during his career Yocum has been named to the Heart Second Team after earning honorable mention honors as a sophomore. Geiger was named honorable mention all-Heart for the second consecutive season. Teams were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Yocum led Evangel in scoring during the 2016-17 season after averaging 13.0 points per game and finishing 16th in the Heart in scoring. He was third in the conference with 74 three-pointers made and led the league shooting 92 percent from the free throw line.
Geiger was the second leading scorer for the Crusaders at 12.5 points per game and was second in rebounding averaging 3.9 boards per game. The junior finished second the Heart in field goal percentage shooting 53 percent on the year as he was also an 85 percent free throw shooter.
League champion William Penn saw Torren Jones named Player of the Year while head coach John Henry earned Coach of the Year accolades.
