Evangel Women rally for 52-42 win at Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa – A big second-half rally propelled the Evangel women’s basketball team to a 52-42 road victory Saturday over Grand View in conference action.

The Crusaders trailed 22-15 at halftime but rallied to outscore Grand View 21-9 to take a 35-31 advantage. Evangel has now won four of its last six games and now sits tied for seventh in the league standings with Grand View.

Both teams struggled offensively shooting below 30 percent in the game, however, the Crusaders out-rebounded Grand View and finished 14-of-18 from the free throw line. Evangel held the Vikings to just 21 percent shooting from the field after outscoring Grand View in the  third quarter.

Allison Swanson emerged in the second half to score 14 of her game-high 20 points. Swanson finished with a double-double adding 14 rebounds and four blocks in the win.

Madi Johnson also finished in double figures for Evangel adding 10 points.

Grand View was led by Jaci Stumpf and Abby Penquite who each scored eight points.
