SPRINGFIELD —  With the threat of ice across much of Missouri between Thursday night and Sunday morning, the St. Louis Cardinals have cancelled their scheduled caravan trips this weekend.

On Thursday, the Cardinals announced a total of 14 stops in four states will not happen thanks to roughly 3/4 inch of ice expected.

“The Caravan is always a special event that we look forward to every year,” Springfield Cardinals Vice President/General Manager Matt Gifford said.  “But the safety of the fans, players and staff is really of the utmost importance.”

“We hope that everyone stays safe with the winter weather threat over the weekend, and we can’t wait to have the St. Louis Cardinals and all of our fans at Hammons Field for the Exhibition Game on March 31.”

The Ozarks caravan trip included stops at Hammons Field and the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions on Friday.  Then on Saturday afternoon, the tour would continue at Missouri Southern in Joplin before wrapping up at Rolla High School.

Stephen Piscotty, Greg Garcia, Paul DeJong, Tom Lawless and Kyle McClellan were scheduled to appear on the Ozarks leg of the caravan.
