Rally prevents Evangel ladies from upsetting Baker

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Evangel University women’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker, 70-61, at 14th-ranked Baker on Wednesday night in Heart action.

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead against the Wildcats and took a 33-28 lead into halftime. Evangel jumped out to the early advantage thanks to shooting 46 percent from the field, however, the Crusaders fell cold in the second half shooting just 25 percent.

Baker responded shooting 50 percent in the second half as the Crusaders also turned the ball over 17 times. The Wildcats also finished with 20 points off turnovers helping with the win.

Allison Swanson scored a game-high 18 points in the loss as Paige Patterson also finished with 15 points.

Anna Hignight came off the bench to lead the Wildcats with 15 points.
