Evangel’s Evans named Cliff Harris Award nominee

Junior linebacker, Josh Evans, has been named a Cliff Harris Award nominee presented to the nation’s top small college defensive player in NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA announced on Monday.

Evans led the nation in forced fumbles and was fifth with 12.5 sacks and seventh with 21 tackles for a loss as both numbers also led the conference. A native of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, Evans was named First Team All-Heart of America after earning Honorable Mention accolades last season.

The junior set the single-season school record for tackles for a loss and was had the fourth most sacks while he is also the all-time tackles for a loss leader and ranks fifth in school history with 19 total sacks.

Finalists for the award will be released in two weeks as the winner will be announced on December 24 and honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club’s annual awards banquet on January 19, 2017.
