COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three Drury swimming records were broken on Thursday in the first day of competition at the Mizzou Invitational at Missouri University in Columbia.
Freshman Bailee Nunn set two of the records with new marks in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly. The Marshfield native completed in the 200 IM in 1:57.97 in a preliminary heat breaking a mark set in 2014 by Agnieszka Ostrowska.
Nunn then posted a time of 53.16 in the 100 Fly, the second fastest time in the preliminary heats. Nunn’s time set a new Drury record breaking the mark set by Li Tao in 2011. She finished second in the event finals later in the day.
Men’s swimmer Konrad Stepien set a Drury record in the 500 Free. The freshman from Poland won the event with a time of 4:17.19. His time is a new Drury record by more than five seconds as he topped the mark previously set by Mitch Snyder in 2009.
After the first day of competition, both Drury teams are in third place among nine squads at the Mizzou Invitational.
