Four soccer Panthers named All-GLVC performers

Drury men’s soccer had four players named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference performers in a vote of league coaches at the end of the regular season. Three Drury players were named to the first team with one landing on the second team.

Ben Bruce, David Cross and Antoine Vial were all named first team All-GLVC. Charles Guelly was selected to the second team.

Vial was twice named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week during the season and was the national Offensive Player of the Week in NCAA-II earlier in this year. The Sete, France native has eight goals and four assists. Despite missing four games during the regular season, Vial’s 20 points were tied for seventh most in the conference and his eight goals were tied for sixth best in the league.

Ben Bruce has seven goals and a pair of assists for the season. The Ullapool, Scotland native scored a goal in six consecutive games from Sept. 9 – Sept. 25.

David Cross, a defender for the Panthers, has seven goals. The senior from Scotland scored four game-winning goals, tied for second most in the GLVC.

Charles Guelly is tied for the team lead in points with 20 coming on eight goals and four assists. The Frenchman is sixth in the league in goals scored and he is tied with teammate Antoine Vial for seventh in the conference in total points with 20.

The Panthers are 11-4-3 this season and play their opening round game of the NCAA-II national championship tournament on Friday against Saginaw Valley State. Game time is noon (Central time) in University City, Michigan.
