Games Involving State Ranked Teams:
No. 4 Carl Junction 19, Branson 3 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO
Branson fought Carl Junction to a 3-3 halftime tie, but a pair of Rayquion Weston touchdowns and a third-quarter safety allowed CJ to pull away at home in the second half and move to 4-1 on the season. Branson remains winless with Friday's loss.

No. 4 Lincoln 46, Marionville 8 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Another Friday night another big week for Boone Kroenke and the undefeated Cardinals. Kroenke ran for 150 yards and three touchdowns and added a fourth score through the air. Marionville's defense slowed down Lincoln early as the Comets trailed just 8-0 after one quarter, but that defecity ballooned to 26-0 at the half. Dominic Simmons also had a big night for Lincoln, rushing for 130 yards and a TD on nine carries.

No. 5 Nixa 31, Neosho 28 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP, PHOTOS & VIDEO
Nixa. Stays. PERFECT. But it wasn't easy. The Eagles didn't grab their first lead until halfway through the fourth quarter when Tru Atkins hauled in an Andrew Rivera pass to put his team up 24-21. Neosho responded with a score and a 28-24 lead with under three minutes left, but Rivera and Nicos Oropeza drove Nixa down for the game-winning score (a 1-yard TD dive by Rivera) with 34.9 seconds remaining, securing a homecoming victory. Part of Neosho's early lead was built off a pretty sick hook-and-ladder from Coleman Scott to Bryce Murphy, who lateraled to Payton Klier for the score. Trailing 28-24 with 1:29 to play, Rivera connected with Oropeza for a 27-yard play on fourth down to keep the game-winning drive alive.

Nixa stat leaders:
Rivera: 8-13, 144 yards, TD; 93 rush yards, 2 TDs
Oropeza: 26 car., 87 yards, TD; 3 rec., 78 yards

No. 5 Monett 28, Aurora 7 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOSCLICK HERE FOR VIDEO
This final ended up being closer than expected for a lot of people, and kudos to Aurora for that. Monett's offense has been impressively efficient this year, even pushing Lamar to the brink last week in a 49-34 loss, but tonight, the Cubs led just 14-7 at the half and trailed 7-6 early. Aurora wouldn't find the endzone again and Michael Branch would three times. Those three scores and 182 yards were more than enough. The 28 points Monett scored ended up being their lowest point total of the season. Aaron Howard had a good night on the ground as well, going for 80 yards on six carries.

Diamond 47, No. 5 Lockwood 22 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Diamond hadn't scored on Lockwood since 2013 and hadn't beat the Tigers this decade. Eh, didn't matter. The Wildcats stunned undefeated Lockwood in the first half, staking a 33-0 halftime lead and cruising through the second half in the night's biggest upset. Logan Sparkman had an 82-yard kickoff return touchdown for Lockwood. Both sides are now 4-1 this season.

Lockwood stat leaders:
Josh Osterdyk: 20 car., 157 yards, TD
Team: 250 rush yards

No. 7 Glendale 40, No. 4 Kickapoo 20 FINAL/THURS. – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP, VIDEOS & PHOTO

No. 8 Webb City 28, Pittsburg (Kan.) 7 – FINAL
Webb City forced four turnovers and allowed just seven points for the third straight game in Friday's win over Pittsburg. Hunter Vanlue led the Cardinals with 89 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and was nearly matched by Cameron Baker, who finished with 88 yards one score. Cash Link was 6-8 for 79 yards through the air. The Cardinals seem to have righted the ship after losing their first two to open the season, which is pretty good timing since they visit undefeated Nixa next Friday.

No. 8 Fair Grove 39, Stockton 7 – FINAL
Austin Fodge had a pretty good night, carrying the ball 13 times for 251 yards and three touchdowns to help move Fair Grove to 5-0. The Eagles led 14-0 after the first quarter and 39-0 at halftime. Stockton dropped to 2-3 with the loss.

Rest of the Area:
Camdenton 48, Parkview 8 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Big game on the ground for Jay Griffin. The senior carried the ball 18 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns, scoring from 11 and 14 yards out with both scores coming in the second half. The Lakers led 20-0 at halftime and scored three times in the fourth quarter to pull away and move to 3-2. Camdenton rushed for 262 yards as a team with 12 players recording at least one attempt. The Lakers travel to Rolla next week while 2-3 Parkview hosts undefeated Glendale.

Joplin 48, West Plains 34 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO
Joplin has scored 40+ points three times and has three wins in those games to show for it. Jokiem Crawford was an absolute star in this win over West Plains, rushing for five touchdowns and throwing for another. Crawford finished with 158 yards on the ground on 26 carries and was 13-21 for 145 yards through the air. Spener Newell had 11 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. Joplin led 19-14 at the half and 41-27 through three quarters, outgaining the Zizzers 449-305. Keegan Hoopes had another big game for West Plains, rushing 30 times for 186 yards and four touchdowns, plus another 18 yards receiving (204 total). West Plains has dropped four in a row and visits Lebanon next week.

Lebanon 42, Hillcrest 6 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Just like that, Lebanon is 4-1. Hillcrest trailed 29-0 at halftime and dropped to 2-3 with the loss after the Lebanon defense held them to 160 total yards. Ry Evans filled in nicely for the injured John Berry, rushing for 81 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. Cole Breeden was 9-13 for 105 yards and three touchdowns through the air and added 49 yards and a touchdown on 12 rushes. All three of Breeden's touchdown passes went to Jack Ehrhardt, who finished with 59 yards receiving.

Bolivar 35, Springfield Catholic 7 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP & VIDEO
Bolivar burned the Irish through the air and on the ground Friday, but despite the final, it took the Liberators until the third quarter to pull away. This game was 7-0 at the half before Bolivar scored a pair of third quarter touchdowns to go up 21-0. Lane Loomer finished with 275 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 33 carries. Connor Sechler completed 12 of 18 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Brandon Emmert was his favorite target, catching seven passes for 82 yards and all three of Sechler's touchdowns.

Reeds Spring 48, Springfield Central 18 – FINAL CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Reeds Spring pulled away FAST in this game. The score was only 14-0 in the second quarter, but that turned into a 41-6 lead at the half. Central scored a pair of touchdowns late to make this look closer than it was, one being a scoop and score from 60+ yards out that I caught while walking into this game in the fourth quarter. Credit to the Bulldogs who really faught to the final whistle here, which allowed them to scrape out a late offensive score. The Wolves are sitting at 4-1 and have a big game with Hollister (3-2) coming up next week.

Hollister 34, Buffalo 20 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Hollister shut out Buffalo 14-0 in the second half to win a battle of 2-2 teams in our KSPR Game of the Week. Buffalo led this game 13-0 out of the gate before Hollister's offense figured itself out and scored 34 of the game's final 41 points. Jackson Bekemeier threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for a third, finishing 15-27 for 205 yards through the air. Hollister's Marvin Walters returned a kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to tie the game at 20. Big win for Hollister; this is their first time to three wins in a season since 2010.

East Newton 14, Seneca 0 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
The Patriots came to play on homecoming. Brandon Jordon gave East Newton an 8-0 first-quarter lead with a 14-yard run following a Seneca fumble, a score that would stand until the fourth quarter when Cameron Linch returned another Seneca fumble 65 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead with 8.5 minutes to play. Lot of pride in this one for the Pats. It was their first win of any kind since Sept. 5, 2014 (742 days), and their first Big 8 win since 2009.

Mount Vernon 53, McDonald County 8 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
The Mountaineers have won two straight for the first time this year and are now sititng at 3-2. This was another game that was close after the first quarter (14-8 MV) and not even close at the half (46-8 MV). Garrett Hadlock tossed six touchdowns and 335 yards on 21-28 passing and spread the ball around pretty evenly (see below). Sammy Robinson finished with 11 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Mount Vernon stat leaders:
Andrew Montemayor: 4 rec., 121 yards, 2 TDs
Jarrett Massie: 8 rec., 99 yards, TD
Cameron Hutchison: 3 rec., 56 yards, a 2 TDs

Strafford 39, Pleasant Hope 0 – FINAL
Strafford took care of business against winless Pleasant Hope, pushing a game closer to .500 (2-3) ahead of next week's game against Fair Grove. The 39-0 final was the closest between the two schools since a 45-14 Strafford win over the Pirates in 2010.

Thayer 32, Houston 6 – FINAL
The Bobcats are sitting at 3-2 after Friday's win over Houston. Thayer led this one 16-0 at the half. They'll host Cabool next week with a chance to move to 4-2. Houston dropped to 1-4 with the loss.

Pierce City 55, Miller 7 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Miller led this game 7-6 in the first quarter but trailed 34-7 at halftime. The Eagles are sitting comfortably at 4-1 now ahead of next week's matchup with Lockwood (4-1) and rushed for 427 yards as a team in Friday's win.

Pierce City stat leaders:
Gage Brown: 7-9, 118 yards, 2 TDs, INT; 79 yards rushing, TD
Mitchell Copening: 11 car., 174 yards, TD
Kaleb Meyer: 5 car., 73 yards, 2 TD
Team: 427 rush yards

Ash Grove 21, Butler 13 – FINAL
Ash Grove's defense allowed more than 12 points for the first time this season, giving up a gaudy 13 (sarcasm!) as they moved to a sparkling 5-0 record. The Pirates led this game 14-7 at the half and were led by Chase White on the ground, who rushed for 135 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Spencer Eagleburger (96 yards receiving). Ash Grove visits Skyline next week.

Summit Christian 47, Skyline 0 – FINAL
Summit Christian dominated Skyline on both sides of the ball Friday, ending a two-game win streak for the Tigers. This was Summit's second consecutive shutout and fourth win. They haven't given up more than six points in a game since Week 1.

Sedalia Smith-Cotton 31, Nevada 13 – FINAL
Smith-Cotton never led Nevada in this game, leading 28-0 at the half. Nevada has a chance to bounce back next week against winless Springfield Central. This was Smith-Cotton's second consecutive win over Nevada, beating them 16-13 last season.

Greenfield 54, Marmaton Valley 0 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
Greenfield (5-0) keeps asserting its dominance in the 8-man game, just wrecking a Marmaton Valley (Kan.) team that hadn't allowed a point in two games this season. Greenfield has scored 50+ three times, but more impressive for 8-man football, has allowed six points or less three times and has two shutouts (all in their last three games).

Appleton City 29, Windsor 14 – FINAL
Three wins in the last four weeks now for Appleton City. They'll face an Adrian team next week that is also sitting at 3-2 thanks to consecutive one-point wins.

Cassville 21, St. James 12 – FINAL
My favorite overlooked running back River Phelps ran for 205 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries on a sloppy field in Cassville as the Wildcats moved to 4-1 this season. St. James scored a late touchdown with 43 seconds left to pull within one score, but the Wildcats defense shut the visitors down for the most of the night. Phelps has 10 touchdowns in Cassville's last four games (4-0).

El Dorado Springs 76, Slater 0 – FINAL
ElDo had some fun in its first win of the season after scoring just 32 combined points in its first four games. Trenton Hardie led the way with 104 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. The Bulldogs totaled 408 yards on the ground and added 74 through the air. Their 76 points were the most points they've scored this decade.

Lighthouse Christian 24, Jasper 6 – FINAL
The Chargers jumped to 3-2 with a good win over Jasper. Lighthouse led 8-0 at the half and kept that score through the third quarter before adding a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away. Jasper drops to 1-4 with the loss.

Sarcoxie 52, Southeast (Kan.) 0 – FINAL
Second shutout in a row for Sarcoxie (4-1). They led this one 42-0 at the half. A tougher task looms next week for Sarcoxie when they visit Diamond.

Versailles 35, Warsaw 14 – FINAL
Versailles (3-2) scored 28 unanswered points in this one, turning a 7-7 tie into a 35-7 lead. Warsaw dropped to 0-5 with the loss.

Harrison (Ark.) 28, Little Rock Christian Academy (Ark.) 21 – FINAL
Harrison's defense forced four turnovers and the Goblins moved to 3-0 after a late fourth-quarter score put them up 28-21 over previously undefeated Little Rock Christian.

Batesville (Ark.) 8, Mountain Home (Ark.) 6 – FINAL
Batesville went up 8-0 late in the first quarter and held onto an 8-6 halftime lead throughout the game's final 12 minutes in what was the best old-fashioned football game score of the night.
