“It was a slow start,” said West Plains coach Kaley Lyons. “Starting out six to zero is not good. It was all our errors.”

The Lady Zizzers began to chip away at the Waynesville’s lead late in the game and tied the contest at 24 points, but the Lady Tigers claimed the last two points to take the 26-24 victory in game one.

“They did a good job coming back from that,” said Coach Lyons of her team, “and proved they were a better team after coming back from the deficit in the first game.”

In the second game, the Lady Zizzers started off strong, thanks in part to Kelly Wiedemann’s attack at the net. Waynesville struggled with service errors, and the home team took the win, 25-11.

West Plains once again took the early lead in the third set. With the Lady Zizzers up 22-9, Waynesville made a late scoring attempt, but the hosts finished strong, winning 25-15.

Kelly Wiedemann finished the evening with 21 kills. Elle Williams, Malena Dietrich, Julia Snodgrass, and Lily Harris each had 2 blocks, Marley Davis had 16 digs, and Kendra Davidson finished with 4 aces and 36 assists.

For Waynesville, Kelsey Arnold had 17 digs and Ashton Pilz added 7 kills.

The Lady Zizzers will be back in action on Monday at home vs. Mountain Grove, and Waynesville travels to Lebanon on Thursday.
