Missouri State junior Evan Stamp was awarded Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the first time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday (Aug. 23). The award is the first accolade for the Bears of the 2016 season.

Making her first start in nearly three seasons, Stamp had a fantastic night in net versus No. 19 Texas Tech on Sunday (Aug. 21). The Wichita native snagged six saves and thwarted numerous cross attempts in heavy traffic from the nationally-ranked Red Raiders on their home field. She allowed just a single first-half goal and kept the Bears within striking distance and MSU nearly equalized late. Stamp’s six saves on Sunday in Lubbock, Texas, were more than her four career saves entering the match.

The Bears (0-1) will hit the road on Wednesday for the last time in August with a 7 p.m. kickoff at UMKC (0-1-1). Missouri State women’s soccer will be featured in the first soccer production of The Valley On ESPN3 at Allison South Stadium when the Bears host Little Rock on Friday (Aug. 26) at 6 p.m.
