Missouri State’s Tyonna Snow was selected Monday as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball for the second time this season. Snow also won the award on March 2 of last season, meaning that she has been honored three of the last 10 eligible weeks.

Snow’s stat line Friday against Illinois State was the first of its kind in Missouri State history, as she posted 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, five steals and two blocks in the Lady Bear victory. While a double-double with at least five assists and five steals had been accomplished twice previously at MSU, no player had ever reached those minimums and added two blocked shots until Snow did so on New Year’s Day.

The Blue Springs, Mo., native then scored a game-high 20 points with nine boards, three assists, four steals and two blocks Sunday at Indiana State.

The senior guard finished MSU’s 2-0 week with averages of 18 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 4.5 steals and 2.0 blocks while shooting 55 percent overall, 12-of-17 from the foul line and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.

Snow and the Lady Bears (9-5, 2-0 MVC) return to JQH Arena this weekend for games against Drake at 7 p.m. Friday and UNI at 2 p.m. Sunday.
